Experiences That Invite Exploration
Learning Also Means Stepping Out into the World

Colombia Is Learned by Walking It
Each field trip is an opportunity to get to know our country through its territories, landscapes, communities, and stories.
Students engage directly with Colombia’s geographic, cultural, social, and natural diversity, drawing connections across different areas of knowledge and understanding that our country is much more than what we can learn within the classroom.
Visiting a community, exploring an ecosystem, discovering a region, or encountering a new territory transforms the way we understand it.

An Experience to Grow
Leaving home, breaking from routine, and spending several days with classmates and teachers involves much more than getting to know a new place.
During field trips, our students take on responsibilities, make decisions, adapt to new circumstances, and face situations that invite them to step outside their comfort zone.
At times, they will need to walk farther than usual, deal with unexpected situations, live under conditions different from their everyday routine, or face physical and emotional challenges.
In this way, every challenge becomes an opportunity to strengthen autonomy, perseverance, adaptability, and self-confidence.

Learning With Others
A field trip is also an experience of togetherness.
Away from the school’s usual routines, students and teachers share new spaces, responsibilities, conversations, and challenges. This allows different bonds to form and new ways of relating to one another to emerge.
Encountering communities and people from different backgrounds also invites us to listen, observe, and understand other ways of seeing and living in the world.

An Experience That Connects Knowledge
Field trips are part of our educational project and are designed to enrich the learning that takes place throughout the year.
History, geography, natural sciences, social sciences, culture, and citizenship stop being abstract concepts and become concrete experiences.
Each territory becomes a space for research, observation, and reflection.
Building Identity
One Colombia, Many Ways to Experience It
Every year, our students travel through different regions of the country and encounter the enormous diversity that characterizes Colombia. From mountain ecosystems to other landscapes, communities, and territories, each destination poses different questions and challenges. Our goal is not simply to visit places, but for our students to understand the territory, recognize its diversity, and build a closer relationship with Colombia.

A Shared Purpose
We Learn as We Go
The Journey Is Also Part of the Experience
At GLM, we understand field trips as a journey of growth.
There are moments of excitement and discovery, but also fatigue, uncertainty, effort, and situations that call for adaptation. It is precisely there that much of their value lies.
Each student has the opportunity to see themselves in circumstances different from their everyday routine, discover new strengths, and experience the satisfaction that comes from reaching a goal after facing a challenge.
From 1st to 11th Grade, an Experience That Grows With Them
Field trips accompany our students’ development throughout their school years.
As they move up in grade, the destinations, challenges, and experiences take on new dimensions, tailored to their age and stage of development.
In this way, each field trip becomes a new chapter in a journey that begins in the early years and, little by little, strengthens autonomy, the ability to live alongside others, openness to the world, and the confidence to take on new challenges.
More Than a Field Trip
Field trips are a learning experience, but they are also an opportunity to discover who we are when we step outside our everyday lives.
They allow us to get to know Colombia, understand other realities, take on responsibilities, strengthen bonds, and face challenges that leave lessons for life.
Because at Gimnasio La Montaña, we know that some of the most important lessons aren’t found in a book.
